This course will explore the ways principals, assistant principals, and coaches can design high-quality, targeted, and impactful professional development nested in a vibrant community of adult learning in a school. Topics will include: setting a vision and mission for the school's culture of professional learning, creating and sustaining a coherent, year-long plan for professional learning, developing professional learning experiences that will model best practice, enrich the culture of learning, and improve the student experiences, and designing a series of practices that can be embedded in the school's professional culture to ensure sustainability and longevity. This is a great course to help leaders plan for the real needs of their school. At the end, leaders can utilize a genuine plan of action for the coming school year, help teachers create their own Individual Professional Development Plans, connect teachers' work to the evaluation system, and even produce evidence towards the administrator's own evaluation.
